Email

Email notifications are the default notification channel in OpsTrails. They are always enabled and require no configuration. See the Notifications overview for how notifications fit into the guardrails system.

How It Works

Email notifications are sent to all users with the OWNER or ADMIN role in the organization
No setup or configuration is needed — email is always active
Emails are sent when a change freeze window or deployment policy is violated

Duplicate Protection

To avoid inbox overload, OpsTrails applies 24-hour duplicate protection per policy. If the same deployment policy is violated multiple times within a 24-hour window, only one email is sent. This limit applies per policy per UTC day.

Email notifications cannot be disabled. They serve as a baseline alert channel to ensure organization owners and admins are always aware of guardrail violations.
