Google Chat

Connect Google Chat to OpsTrails to post messages to a Chat space when change freeze windows or deployment policies are violated. See the Notifications overview for how channels work.

Configuration

• Webhook URL (required) — An incoming webhook URL for the Google Chat space (must be HTTPS)

Creating a Webhook in Google Chat

1. Open the Google Chat space where you want to receive alerts
2. Click the space name at the top → “Apps & integrations”
3. Click “Add webhooks”
4. Enter a name (e.g., “OpsTrails”) and optionally an avatar URL
5. Click “Save” and copy the webhook URL

How It Works

• OpsTrails posts a message to the webhook URL when a violation occurs
• The message includes the guardrail name, violation details, and the event that triggered it
